Baby Joy - Blanket

Hook = 4mm (UK), G/6 (USA)

Yarn = Sidar Baby Bamboo- shade A: Flip Flop (125), shade B: Baby Berries (161) shade C:  Babe (134). Two 50g skeins of each.

Gauge: 1"x1"= 6 dc x 3 rows of dc

Abbreviations:
ch = chain
sl st = slip stitch
sc = single crochet
dc = double crochet
v sp = v space
sk = skip
* = pattern repeat

Pattern:
The multiple for this pattern is 7 + 5. E.g. if you want to have 20 V’s going across your pattern, multiply 20 by 7 and then add 5, this will give you the number of chains required to do this. (7 makes up 4dc and one V. The 5 makes up the 4dc at the beginning of the row and the ch1 used as a step up for the first dc)

Ch 107 (using shade A)
Row 1:  Work 1dc in the 2nd ch from the hook. 1dc in the next 3 ch.*sk next ch, 1dc in the next ch, ch1, work 1dc in same ch. sk next ch, 1dc in each of the next 4 ch*. Repeat from * to end. Turn.

Row 2: ch1, 1dc in the first 4 dc. *sk next dc, dc in v sp, ch1, dc in same v sp, sk next dc. 1dc in each of the next 4 dc*. Repeat from * to end. Fasten off

Row 3: Attach shade B to first dc using sl st. ch1, 1sc in first dc, 1sc in each dc and v sp across the row. Fasten off.

Row 4: Attach shade C to first sc using sl st. ch1, 1 dc in the first sc, 1 dc in each of the next 3 sc. *sk next sc, 1 dc in the next sc, ch1, 1 dc in same sc, sk next sc. 1dc in each of the next 4 sc.* repeat from * to end. Turn

Row 5: Ch1, 1dc in first 4 dc, *sk next dc, 1dc in v sp, ch1, 1dc in same v sp, sk next dc. 1dc in each of the next 4 dc*. Repeat from * to end. Fasten off.

Rows 6-71: Repeat from row 3 alternating the colours used for the dc rows (shade B is always used for the sc rows)

Ends can be sewn in or crocheted over when working the edging.

Edging

Round 1: Attach shade B anywhere at the top of the blanket using a sl st. Work 1sc in same st, 1 sc in each dc and v sp across until the last dc of the row. Work 5sc in the last dc of the row (to make corner). Work 118sc evenly across the left side until the first ch at the bottom of the blanket. Work 5sc in first ch at the bottom (to make corner). 1 sc in each ch across the bottom until the last ch. 5sc in last chain (to make corner). Work 118sc evenly across the right side until the first dc of the top row. Work 5sc in the first dc of the row (to make corner). 1sc in each dc and v sp. join with first sc.

Round 2: Ch1, 1sc in same st, work 1sc in each sc and 3sc in the third sc of the corner st of round 1 around the entire blanket. Join with first sc. Fasten off. Sew in ends

  1. I keep losing a stitch somewhere. I am on row 5 and now I only have 3 spaces for dcs before the v space. Help!

    1. I'm so sorry Alexandra, I saw your message before we moved house an dplanned to respond once we were settled. It completely slipped my mind.
      I hope that you've been able to sort out the issue but just incase, it's likely that you may have made a mistake in one of the previous rows (missing a sticth for example). I would suggest glancing over the stitches on the previous rows to see of this is the case.
